You know as well as I do that the differences we're talking about here are in the single digits (for drivers and below that for motherboard induced latency) of milliseconds. Thunderbolt audio interfaces or PCIe cards often introduce less latency than USB solutions. But check some reviews of acutal builds to find something adequate. High-end mainboard are often cluttered with additional stuff like WiFi, USB controllers and so on, which could introduce additional latency or lag.įor real time audio, I would go Team Blue with a low spec board with enough PCIe slots and preferably Thunderbolt. Latency depends mainly on the hardware and the drivers for this hardware.
